Today, the antibacterial drug Tavanic is original, and is produced by the pharmaceutical corporation SANOFI-AVENTIS Deutschland, GmbH. Tavanic is available in two dosage forms:

Tavanic tablets have a shell, painted in a pale yellow-pink color. The shape of the tablets is oblong, biconvex, on both sides there are separation risks in the form of a groove. Tablets are available in packs of 3, 5, 7 or 10 pieces.
The solution for infusion is sterile and packaged in sealed glass vials. Each vial contains 100 ml of solution, the concentration of the antibiotic in which corresponds to the content of 500 mg of levofloxacin in one tablet. The solution is clear and colored greenish yellow.
Both the tablet and the infusion solution Tavanic contain the antibiotic levofloxacin as the active substance. Tablets contain 250 mg, or 500 mg of levofloxacin. Pill names are often written and spoken as follows – Tavanic 250 or Tavanic 500, where the number next to the name indicates the dosage of levofloxacin. The solution for infusion contains 5 mg of levofloxacin in 1 ml. That is, the whole bottle of Tavanic with a volume of 100 ml contains 500 mg of the antibiotic levofloxacin. This means that the quantitative content of the antibiotic in 100 ml of solution corresponds to that in one Tavanic 500 tablet.
As auxiliary components Tavanic tablets with an active substance content of 250 mg and 500 mg contain the same chemical compounds:

Spectrum of action and effects
Tavanic is an antibacterial agent from the group system quinolones III generation. All systemic quinolones have a wide spectrum of action, including Tavanic. Since certain types of bacteria often settle in a particular organ, when they enter the human body, they cause an infectious-inflammatory disease of this particular structure. Tablets take 250 mg or 500 mg 1 – 2 times a day. The antibiotic pill should be swallowed whole, without chewing or cleaving it to pieces. The swallowed pill must be washed down with clean water in a volume of 100 – 200 ml (0.5 – 1 cup). If necessary, the pill can be divided in half, breaking it down by dividing risk.
Tavanic can be taken at any time, regardless of the meal. However, with simultaneous use with antacid agents (Rennie, Gastal, Almagel, Phosphalugel, etc.), iron preparations and Sucralfate, their reception should be spread in time by 2 hours. For example, Tavanic should be taken 2 hours before or after taking an antacid, an iron-containing drug, or Sucralfate.
Tavanic solution is administered intravenously slowly, drip. The introduction of 10 ml of the solution should be made at least 1 hour. If half the bottle is injected, then at least half an hour. Tavanic solution can be stored in a bottle in a lit place for no longer than 3 days. To calculate the required amount of solution, you should know that 1 ml contains 5 mg of tavanic. That is, if you need to enter 125 mg of the drug, then this is equivalent to 125 mg / 5 = 25 ml of solution.
Tavanic can be administered intravenously simultaneously with the following solutions:
- 5% dextrose solution
- 2.5% ringer’s solution with dextrose
- nutrient solutions (amino acids, carbohydrates, trace elements).
Tavanic should not be administered simultaneously with heparin and sodium bicarbonate solution.
With a significant improvement in a person’s condition, intravenous administration of tavanic can be replaced by taking tablets in exactly the same dosage. Antibiotic use is stopped 3 days after normalization of body temperature.
During the entire period of use of Tavanic, direct sunlight should be avoided on the skin, and also ultraviolet radiation, including tanning beds, should not be excluded.
The long period of taking Tavanic can cause dysbacteriosis and the addition of a fungal infection. Therefore, it is recommended to take medications containing natural intestinal microflora bacteria (for example, Linex, Bifidumbacterin, etc.) and antifungal agents simultaneously with Tavanic.
Dosage, frequency of administration and duration of therapy with tablets and Tavanic solution are determined by the nature and severity of the disease, as well as the functional activity of the kidneys. There are two options for dosages:
one. For patients with normal renal function with CC more than 50 ml / min.
2 For patients with renal failure with CC less than 50 ml / min.
