Tsiston – instructions for use, analogues, reviews, price

Name and release form

Currently, the drug Cystone is available in a single dosage form – oral tablets. The tablets are manufactured by the Indian pharmaceutical concern Himalaya Drug Co., which specializes in the manufacture and development of medicines based on vegetable raw materials and natural ingredients. In other words, Himalaya produces factory phytopreparations, which include Cystone.

It is because of the natural composition Cyston is often called not just a medicine, but a herbal remedy. In addition, sometimes Tsiston called plant pills, which fully reflects its qualitative composition.

Cyston tablets have a round, biconvex shape and are painted in a light brown color. On the surface of the tablets you can see inhomogeneous patches of darker or lighter tones compared with the main light brown color. Tablets are packed and sold in plastic cans of 100 pieces. Banks, in turn, are packed in a cardboard box.

The composition of the drug

The active ingredients of Cyston tablets are medicinal plant extracts obtained by various methods that have the properties of dissolving kidney stones and excreting various salts with urine. The preparation contains the usual plant extracts and steamed. This difference in the production of extracts is dictated by considerations of imparting the highest possible therapeutic efficacy to the entire medicinal preparation. That is, extracts of some plants are most active when they are obtained in the usual way, and others – during steaming. There are no other fundamental differences in terms of therapeutic effects of ordinary and steamed medicinal plant extracts.

So, in the composition of Cyston tablets, the usual extracts of the following plants are included as active ingredients:

  • Flowers of the stem of the pedicle (Didymocarpus pedicellata) – 65 mg in one tablet
  • Stalks of saxifrage reed (Saxifraga ligulata) – 49 mg
  • Stems of madder stalk (Rubia cordifolia) – 16 mg
  • Rhizomes filthy filmy (Cyperus scariosus) – 16 mg
  • Rough straw seeds (Achyranthes aspera) – 16 mg
  • Leaves, stem and flowers of onosma pritsvetkovogo (Onosma bracteatum) – 16 mg
  • Whole plant of Vernonia ashy (Vernonia cinerea) – 16 mg.

Also active ingredients of Cystone tablets are extracts from the following medicinal plants processed over steam:

  • Aerial part (leaves, stem and flowers) of fragrant basil (Ocimum basilicum)
  • Horse bean seeds (Dolichos biflorus)
  • Fruits of Tribulus terrestris
  • Seeds of mimosa bashful (Mimosa pudica)
  • Whole plant (roots, rhizomes, leaves, stem and flowers) of aromatic plant (Pavonia odorata)
  • Whole plant (roots, rhizomes, leaves, stem and flowers) of horsetail (Equisetum arvense)
  • Seeds of teak (Tectona grandis seed).

In addition, as an active ingredient, each Cyst tablet contains powdered purified mummy (Asphaltum) and lime silicate (Hajrul yahood bhasma) in an amount of 13 mg and 16 mg, respectively.

As auxiliary components, each Cystonic tablet contains the following substances:

  • Magnesium stearate
  • Microcrystalline cellulose
  • Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose
  • Crospovidone
  • Aerosil.

Cyston – therapeutic effect

The diuretic effect is a diuretic effect, which eliminates the urine stagnation in the renal pelvis and ensures its timely evacuation. This effect does not allow salts to precipitate and form crystals, from which stones will later form.

The nephrolitholytic effect consists in dissolving the already existing large kidney stones and removing small stones. The drug helps to weaken the chemical and physical bonds between the substances that form the stone, which leads to their elimination. As a result, the stone is reduced in size. Also nephrolitolytic effect is to remove and neutralize various substances in the urine, which contribute to the formation of stones. In other words, Cyston prevents the formation of kidney stones, eliminating the factors that lead to this.

Anti-inflammatory effect is to reduce the severity or complete suppression of the inflammatory process occurring in the tissues of the kidneys or mucous membranes of the urinary tract.

Antispasmodic action is to relax the bladder and urinary tract, thereby eliminating the difficulty of urination. Also, the antispasmodic action eliminates pain caused by the movement of kidney stones or urinary tract. In addition, due to the antispasmodic effect, Tsiston relieves pain and burning during urination.

Antimicrobial and antiseptic action is to destroy bacteria and other microorganisms that can provoke an infectious-inflammatory process in the kidneys and urinary tract.

All of these effects Cystone has due to the following pharmacological properties:

  • Removes oxalate and phosphate salts from the kidneys and urinary tract, as well as uric acid and small stones.
  • Normalizes the balance between crystals and the colloidal matrix covering them in the urine, which prevents minor scratches and wounds on the mucous membrane of the urinary tract
  • Reduces the concentration of substances in the urine, contributing to the formation of kidney stones (oxalic acid, calcium, hydroxyproline)
  • Increases the concentration of urine elements, preventing and slowing the formation of stones (sodium, magnesium and potassium)
  • Reduces the density of mucin that covers the stones, as a result of which it becomes possible to partially dissolve them and break them up into small pieces.
  • It prevents the accumulation of salt crystals and particles around the stone’s core, which significantly slows down its further growth and, consequently, the increase in size
  • It relaxes the muscles of the urinary tract and relieves spastic pains.
  • Provides normal urine flow.

All therapeutic and pharmacological effects of Cystone do not depend on the acidity of urine (pH). Therefore, the drug can be used for any physical properties of urine, without acidifying or alkalinizing it specifically with the help of various means.

Indications for use

Cystone (tablets) – instructions for use

General provisions

Cyston tablets should be taken after a meal, drinking plenty of water (at least half a glass). The pill must be swallowed whole, without grinding or chewing it. If a person cannot swallow a whole pill for any reason, then it can be broken into two or four parts, which can be taken one by one. Against the background of the use of Cystone should be consumed at least 2 – 2.5 liters of fluid per day. Moreover, this amount should include only water, tea, compote, juice and other drinks and not take into account the liquid consumed in the composition of dishes.

Cystone can be used for any type of urolithiasis and crystalluria, regardless of the composition of the stones and the acidity of the urine (pH). That is, Cyston tablets are effective in both oxalate, and uric, and in phosphate urolithiasis (kidney stones).

It is undesirable to use Cyston tablets with large stones, since their movement can provoke an obstruction of the ureters and, consequently, the inability to urinate. It is also not recommended to use Cystone for acute pain in the urinary tract.

If during the treatment process with Cystone, a person has acute pain, then you should stop taking the pills.

In the course of treatment with Cystone, it must be remembered that the therapeutic effect, like that of other herbal preparations, develops slowly, gradually, reaching its maximum severity two weeks from the start of the intake. That is, to obtain the effect, it is necessary to take Cyston for at least two weeks.

It is also necessary to remember that Cyston, like other herbal remedies, continues to exert its therapeutic effects for 2 to 4 weeks after the end of the intake.

Cyston – dosage for various diseases

Depending on the disease, its severity and speed of recovery, as well as on the person’s age, Cyston is used in various dosages and for different periods of time.

For urinary tract infections (for example, cystitis, urethritis, pyelitis, etc.) it is recommended for children and adults to take Cystone in the following dosages depending on age:

  • Children aged 6 – 11 years – take one tablet 3 times a day
  • Children aged 12 to 15 years old – take 2 tablets 2 – 3 times a day
  • Adults and teenagers over 15 years old – take 2 tablets 3 times a day.

The duration of therapy for urinary tract infections ranges from 7 days until the full recovery and elimination of the pathological process.

For urolithiasis and crystalluria, Cystone should be taken in children and adults in the following dosages, depending on age:

  • Children aged 6 to 11 years old – take 1 tablet 3 times a day
  • Children aged 12 – 15 years – take 2 tablets 3 times a day
  • Adults and adolescents over 15 years old – take 2 tablets 2 – 3 times a day.

The duration of therapy for urolithiasis and crystalluria ranges from 4 to 6 months or until the stones exit.

In order to prevent the formation of kidney stones again, for example, after surgical operations on the organ, removal of stones or distant lithotripsy (crushing stones), it is recommended to take Cystone 1 tablet 3 times a day for 4 – 5 months, regardless of age. Sometimes after surgical removal of stones from the kidneys, to prevent their re-formation, it is recommended to take Cystone according to the scheme – in the first month 2 tablets 2 times a day, then for 4 – 5 months – 1 tablet 2 times a day.

In case of gout, Cystone should take 2 tablets 3 times a day in courses of 1 – 2 months duration. Courses of therapy can be re-applied, making intervals between them equal in duration to the period of taking the pills.

Cystone during pregnancy

General provisions

Cyston tablets are approved for use during pregnancy because they contain only herbal ingredients that are not capable of harming a woman or a fetus directly.

During pregnancy, Cyston is most often used in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract, such as pyelitis, pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis (not associated with venereal diseases). Doctors also prescribe Cystone for difficulty urinating, due to their strong spasm, provoked by kidney stones, inflammation or strong pressure from the uterus.

How to take Cystone?

In pregnancy, Cystone should be taken in the same way as all other adults, without reducing or increasing the dosage. Tablets should be drunk after a meal, washing down with a sufficiently large amount of liquid (at least half a glass). During the entire course of treatment with Cystone, one should drink at least 2-2.5 liters of fluid per day to ensure active diuresis.

If a pregnant woman suffers from urolithiasis, then without urgent need we should not begin therapy with Cystone, since crushing and release of stones can be accompanied by painful and other unpleasant sensations that can provoke uterus hypertonus or miscarriage. Also, one should not take Cystone tablets during pregnancy in order to prevent the recurrence of kidney stones. The use of Cyston with these objectives (dissolution of stones and prevention of re-formation) should be postponed for a period after the completion of pregnancy.

When crystalluria, when salts are collected in fairly large crystals with sharp edges that injure the mucous membrane of the urethra and ureters during urination, pregnant women should take Cystone 2 tablets 2 to 3 times a day for 4 to 6 months.

In case of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract (cystitis, pyelonephritis, pyelitis, urethritis) Cystone must be taken 2 tablets 3 times a day until complete recovery. The minimum allowable duration of treatment is 7 days.

Cystic cystitis

Cyst pills for cystitis have a number of effects:

  • Reduces stinging, burning and pain when urinating
  • Enhance the effect of antibiotics, uroantiseptics and other antimicrobial agents.
  • Accelerate recovery due to relief of the inflammatory process in the mucous membrane of the bladder
  • Reduce bladder spasm
  • Reduce the frequency of urge to urinate.

Cystone is not sufficient for the treatment of cystitis drug, so it should be used in combination with uroantiseptics (for example, Monural, Norbactin, Nolitsin, etc.), detrimental effects on pathogenic microorganisms that caused the infectious inflammatory process in the bladder. After the completion of antibiotic therapy, Cyston can be continued for several more weeks in order to achieve full restoration of the normal structure of the mucous membrane of the bladder and elimination of sluggish inflammation, thereby preventing the disease from recurring in the future.

So, with cystitis, Cystone tablets should be used in the following dosages, depending on age:

  • Children aged 6 – 11 years – take one tablet 3 times a day
  • Children aged 12 to 15 years old – take 2 tablets 2 – 3 times a day
  • Adults and teenagers over 15 years old – take 2 tablets 3 times a day.

The duration of therapy depends on the speed of recovery, and can be from 7 days to 2 – 3 months.

Side effects

Cyston – analogues

Drugs with an identical Cystone composition does not exist, so this drug has no synonyms. But on the pharmaceutical market there is a wide range of other drugs with a similar therapeutic effect, but with a composition different from that of Cystone. Such drugs are called analogues.

The following drugs are attributed to Cyston analogues:

  • Afala pills
  • Bangshil tablets (only in Ukraine)
  • Canephron H dragee and oral solution
  • Nephrofit with orthocyphon (herbal tea "Altai" No. 22) – filter bags and chopped grass for brewing
  • Pipemidine oral capsules
  • Spill Super Capsules
  • Renel pills sublingual homeopathic
  • Rovatineks capsules for oral administration
  • Solidago compositum C homeopathic solution for injection
  • Trinefron oral solution
  • Uro Veda tablets for oral administration
  • Uro-control tablets for oral administration
  • Urocran tablets for oral administration
  • Urolesan oral solution
  • Uronephron syrup for oral administration
  • Urocholum syrup for oral administration
  • Fitolizin paste for the preparation of suspensions for oral administration
  • Flavia capsules.

Almost all reviews of Cystone (over 95%) are positive. In approximately the same number of cases, people used the drug to dissolve kidney stones and remove sand or to treat cystitis and pyelonephritis. In reviews of using Cyston to dissolve stones and remove sand from the kidneys, people note the high efficacy of the drug, which allowed them to get rid of the existing problem without surgery.

In reviews of the use of Cystone for the treatment of cystitis and pyelonephritis, people indicate that the drug helped to completely cure the long-existing and periodically exacerbating painful disease. In a number of reviews, women and men point out that Cyston helps them to prevent annual recurrences of cystitis and pyelonephritis, usually occurring during the cold season. In addition, women note that the drug is literally a salvation if cystitis or pyelonephritis occurs during pregnancy, since it can be drunk in long courses without harming the fetus.

In positive reviews, many point out that, in their opinion, the lack of a drug is a need for long-term use. However, given the high efficacy of Cystone, this disadvantage does not change the overall positive opinion about the drug.

Negative reviews were left by people who did not get the expected effect from Cystone. That is, they got some kind of clinical effect and improvement, but not the same as they expected. This situation, in fact, is caused by the discrepancy between the hopes pinned and the real effect of the drug, in which the first is significantly overestimated. In this case, high expectations do not allow a person to objectively evaluate the drug, resulting in frustration and negative feedback.

Canephron or Cystone?

Both Canephron and Tsiston are phytopreparations, that is, as active components, they contain extracts and extracts from medicinal plants. However, Cystone is manufactured by an Indian pharmaceutical concern, and Canephron is manufactured by German.

Both drugs are indicated for use in the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract (cystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, etc.) and to reduce the size and prevent the re-formation of kidney stones. That is, the spectrum of action of Canephron and Cyston is almost the same, so both of these drugs are very popular and are often prescribed for inflammation of the urinary system and urolithiasis.

In the reviews, both drugs are characterized positively, but some people prefer and suit Cystone, and others – Canephron, which is due to the individual characteristics of each person’s body. Thus, given the same therapeutic effect and similar efficacy, it can be said that one should choose between Canephron and Cyston individually, based on one’s own impressions of taking the drugs.

However, there are some differences between Canephron and Tsiston. Thus, the composition of the Cyston includes much more components, which increases the risk of allergic reactions. Cases of an allergic reaction to Canephron are not described. Therefore, if you are prone to allergies, you should choose Canephron. In addition, Cystone has a more pronounced antibacterial effect, so with strong inflammation of the bladder or kidneys, this drug is preferable.

Separately, it should be said about the ability of Canephron to reduce the secretion of protein in the urine during pregnancy, which is very important. Therefore, pregnant women suffering from preeclampsia, or who have protein in their urine, should opt for Canephron.
