Samara Luka – the cradle of world civilization. So says the Samara writer, Slavic ethnographer and local historian Yevgeny Bazhanov.
In search of evidence for the theory of the "origin of civilization from Samara Luka", a local historian traveled several thousand kilometers with colleagues, visited far corners of the Samara region, Penza land and the famous Ural Arkaim. Traces of dews were found throughout the Volga and Ural regions, revealing not only many ancient names confirming the close relationship between Russian and Indian-Iranian mythology, but also amazing artifacts.
In Samara Luka, for example, they found cult stones with a hole hollowed out in the middle for gifts and offerings. They also found fragments of weapons belonging to the beginning of our era – a time that archaeologists do not recognize as "civilized" for our lands.
And in the traditions of some Volga villages, they found signs of moon and sun worship. They were traced in the patterns of the platbands and shutters of the houses.
By the way, it was the inhabitants of these places that the Egyptian historian Ptolemy described as sun-worshipers, calling them dews as far back as the 2nd century BC.
An amazing discovery awaited researchers almost alongside Samara – on the arrow of the Volga and Usa rivers, near the village of Zhiguli. Locals have long talked about strange circles, well distinguished only from a great height.
Some old-timers considered them land-reclamation work, others claimed that they were remnants of ancient fortifications. Bazhanov’s group took a photo of the area from a bird’s flight, and on the ground made the necessary measurements.
The result shook. In the heart of the Samara Luka there is a classical sanctuary of the sun and moon worshipers.
Similar temples have already been found in Russia. One of the temples recently discovered near Novgorod, two more – at Smolensk and Pskov.
“But our Samara temple is grander,” says Evgeny Bazhanov. – Its remains represent a large circle. In the center there is a disk symbolizing the sun and the moon at the same time, since these are two crescents, two phases of the moon. Between these two halves can drive a car – so the disk is huge.
Its diameter is about 50 meters, the width of the shaft is 6 meters, the height is almost 3 meters. Around the "sun" – small disks, "stars" with a diameter of about 25 meters. They are all at equal distance from the "sun" and from each other.
Unusual construction! Stars consist of a large sickle and a small shaft.
But for each "star" "horns" – small mounds on the edge of the shafts – are directed in different directions. As if the moon is changing phases, moving around the sun! Unique object!
We called it "Solun" – "Sun-Moon".
According to Yevgeny Bazhanov, the builders of the temple “Solun” did not just build a grandiose religious building – they constructed on the ground a carriage of the sun god, later in Hindu mythology nicknamed Surya. And the temple “Solun” was built inside a much larger in scale natural “temple”, where the single disk of the “Sun” is Samarskaya Luka, framed by two “crescents” – Usoy and the Volga. The “Olympic” scale allowed the local historian to conclude that Samara Luka is not only a monument of nature.
For the ancient Aryans and Dews, it was the abode of the gods.
